Abingdon Exiles came from behind to beat Green Tree Wallingford 4-3 in a thrilling second-round en-counter in the Critchleys UTV’s Devenney Cup, writes Darryl Ridgley.
Josh Haynes put Exiles ahead before a Martin Dawson brace and another from Sam Elkins gave the visitors a 3-1 advantage.
But Exiles rallied, Haynes netted a second and then levelled through Pat Clarke, before Richard Walker scored a late winner.
Division 1 basement side Rutherford’s poor season continued when they crashed 4-2 away to Division 3 side Abba Athletic.
Shane Proberts struck twice for the hosts and Robert Atherton also netted for Abba but Wayne Harwood’s delightful chip to lob the goalkeeper was the pick of the bunch.
Al Cal and John Hawkin netted for Rutherford, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to another defeat.
JET were shot down 4-2 at Woodstock Wanderers.
Ryan Doran scored a brace alongside goals from Dav Villiers and Matt Taylor, while Andrew Steer and Darrell Barrett scored JET’s consolation efforts.
Sutton Wanderers were edged out 4-2 at Forest Hill, for whom Matt Wigley struck twice.
Simon Diffley was also on target for the home side, while Andrew Conways bagged both Wanderers goals.
Black Swan thrashed Division 3 team Great West-ern Park 7-1 away from home. Clint Hedges scored a hat-trick to add to a brace from Ross Tabor and efforts from David Carter and Danny Cox.
Ian Brooker grabbed Great Western Park’s consolation.
In Division 3, goals from Aiden Rowe and George Cottrell helped Watlington Town to a 2-2 draw at home to New Club, negating Dan Smith’s effort and Nathan Bone’s own goal.
Dilly United suffered an almighty 8-1 thrashing at AFC Brightwell.
Jack McCoughlin bagged himself a hat-trick, while there were braces for Charlie Silkstone and Drew Far-quarharson and a goal from Robby Spencer.
Jamie Bovis scored Dilly’s consolation effort.
