Long Wittenham must have been licking their lips when visitors Kintbury Rangers had a man sent off late in the first half of their North Berks Charity Cup, writes Phil Annets.
The score was 2-2 at the time. But it was the ten men of Kintbury who rose to the occasion and romped to a remarkable 7-2 success.
Tim Barton bagged a brace for Wittenham, but doubles by Charlie Allsop and Shaun Thorp alongside goals from Iggy Ilott, Adam Drake and Tim Hearn won the tie for Kintbury.
Didcot Eagles, from Division 5, were thrashed 12-1 by Division 2 Radley. Nino Merola and Karl Gusch-tscha notched a hat-trick apiece alongside two for Frankie Merola and Mike Steers and one each for Ben Drabble and Adam Excell.
Alex Rodman netted Didcot’s solitary effort. Jonny Eudell went on a one-man spree, netting seven times for Division 1’s Ardington & Lockinge in their 9-0 rout of Coleshill United from Division 2.
Ollie O’Hanlon and Nick Wilkins scored the other two goals.
The game of the round came at Division 2 Steventon, for whom Shane Butler and Andy Hall scored twice, but they lost 6-4 at home to Division 1 Wallingford Town.
Ashley Searle scored a hat-trick, Simon Vaisey two and Craig Sinclair one for Town.
Benson AFC, from Division 4, served up the only minor upset winning 2-1 against Division 3 Milton United Res thanks to a Zak Gallagher double cancelling out a Jack Alder effort.
Division 2 side East Hendred saw off Blewbury from Division 3 by the same 2-1 scoreline. Shane McGowran and James Hicks scored their goals, with Rob Pritchard registering for the lower league side.
Scott Groves, Chris Roche, Liam McCullough and Bill McDonald scored the goals for Wantage Town A as they won 4-0 at Drayton.
