ABINGDON United recorded their first point of the season after a thrilling 3-3 draw at home to Milton United in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Bank Holiday Monday.

Kieran Cochrane was the hero and villain for Abingdon, scoring twice but then getting sent off.

Cochrane fired Abingdon ahead, only for the visitors to hit back when Jack Bernasconi fired under the body of Tom Plumridge.

Within two minutes the home side had established a lead again with George Reid hitting the post as he went round the keeper, but Cochrane was on hand to put the loose ball over the line.

Milton levelled again on 65 minutes when Ollie Thomas converted a free-kick with a cracking shot into the far corner.

Reid shot wide from a Dan Hunt pass and Cochrane shot straight at the keeper as Abingdon looked the more likely to score.

And soon after Hunt blasted home to put Abingdon ahead for the third time.

However, Thomas again showed his set-piece prowess, curling home another free-kick ten minutes from time to make it 3-3.

Both sides went for the winner, although they had to do it with ten men apiece after a tussle between goalscorers Bernasconi and Cochrane saw them both receive their marching orders.

Reid almost won it for Abingdon in injury time, his curling effort sailing narrowly over the bar.

Abingdon United had made it five league defeats in a row when losing 3-1 at home to Highmoor Ibis on Saturday.

Mo Davies put Ibis ahead on the hour, but Jamie Essex headed the equaliser with ten minutes left.

Highmoor had Harrison Bayley sent off, but clinched the victory with two late goals from Antony White.

Depleted Letcombe suffered a 2-0 defeat away to New College Academy on Saturday.

The hosts scored twice in the second half through Jack Lowers and Ben Lodge.
