DIDCOT Town’s Emirates FA Cup adventure may be over, but chairman John Bailey is hoping the club will reap the benefits for years to come, writes Matthew Bruce.
Sunday's 3-0 defeat at home to Exeter City in front of a full house and a live TV audience are expected to net the club around £100,000.
Bailey said: “We’ve not got a big budget – we had to cut it about three years ago.
“Ian (Concannon) and Jamie (Heapy) have done fantastically well with the budget they’ve got.
“We can’t offer players the finances other clubs can.”
Money is less of a problem now, following a run which brought in almost £30,000 in prize winnings, as well as the proceeds of having Sunday’s game televised.
The chairman added: “We’ll hopefully be able to improve some of the facilities for training, so that we can bring on the young lads,” he said.
“It’s not going into people’s pockets or into the players budget. We’re hoping this will be a legacy for the players coming through.”
