Didcot Town’s inconsistent form continued when they slipped to a 3-1 defeat in a low-key derby clash away to North Leigh on Saturday.

The result leaves the Railwaymen firmly mid-table in Division 1 South & West of the Evo-Stik Southern League.

Didcot started strongly and only an important clearance halted the twin threat of strikers Mark Janes and George Jeacock in the first minute.

But the home side took the lead in the 25th minute, when Morgan Williams’s corner was headed home by Stuart Hole at the near post.

Millers boss Mark Gee brought on George Seacole for the injured Elliott Osborne-Ricketts at half-time.

And the substitute made an immediate impact, lobbing the ball over Didcot keeper Leigh Bedwell from ten yards in the 47th minute.

North Leigh made it 3-0 on 58 minutes as Callum McNish swept home Steve Davies’s cross.

The introduction of Jack Longford and Josh Dutton-Black saw Didcot start to pose problems.

And they pulled a goal back in the 71st minute when Adam Learoyd headed in Dutton-Black’s corner.

Didcot will be hoping to get back to winning ways at home to lowly Burnham on Saturday.

Didcot Tn: Bedwell, Collins, Organ, Martin (Longford 50), Carnell, Learoyd, Edney (Ballard 82), Williams, Janes (Dutton-Black 66), Jeacock, Powell.

The visitors took the lead through Ashley Edenborough, but Sam Barder took only two minutes to equalise in Division 1 South & West of Evo-Stik Southern League.

However, Edenborough’s second goal and efforts from Ryan Stanners and Josh Parsons saw Marine cruise in.

l Jamie Essex and Seth Humphries both scored twice as Abingdon United romped to a 5-1 win at Milton United in the Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division on Monday.

A deflected shot by George Reid put the visitors ahead before Essex and Humphries hit their doubles to put Abingdon 5-0 ahead.

Milton replied late on through Niall Hodgkins’s spot-kick.

Letcombe extended their unbeaten run in Division 1 West to seven games when they beat visitors Purton with goals from Richie Claydon and Andy Goodchild.
