ABINGDON United were consigned to a fifth straight defeat as they were beaten 2-0 at home to Ascot United in Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division.

The result means Abingdon will have to win all four of their remaining games if they are to stand any chance of avoiding relegation.

The hosts fell behind as early as the 11th minute, when a mistake in midfield allowed Samir Regragui clean through to sweep the ball into the bottom corner.

After seeing efforts cleared off the line and strike the underside of the bar, Abingdon’s hopes of a comeback were dashed nine minutes from time when Lee Boon slotted in.

Letcombe lost 2-1 at home to Cheltenham Saracens in Division 1 West.

Dan Hoskin put Letcombe ahead.

But Jack Sklenar levelled for the visitors and then scored the winner with a disputed penalty.

Meanwhile, Harry Evans hit a hat-trick as Vale of White Horse hammered Cheltenham & District 5-1 in the Meeson Trophy at Milton United.

Evans needed just eight seconds to open the scoring, intercepting the ball on the halfway line and racing through a static defence before slotting into the net.

Just a minute later he and Vale had their second when he turned home Fabian Crane’s low cross.

Evans completed his hat-trick early in the second half when he blocked the Cheltenham goalkeeper’s attempted clearance before knocking the ball into an empty net from 20 yards.

Cheltenham pulled one back from a free-kick, but Kieran Sutton restored the three-goal advantage with a low drive, before Rio Sansom completed the scoring by tapping in from a tight angle.
