LEWIS Coyle scored twice and set up the other as Kidlington belied their lowly position in the Evo-Stik Southern League Central Division to win 3-1 at home to Barton Rovers on Saturday.

It was a classy display from the hosts, who took the lead after four minutes with a spectacular goal.

Coyle, who had been fouled 25 yards out, got up and dusted himself down before firing a low, dipping free-kick past the visitors wall and inside the near post.

Barton hit back, when Rod Orlando-Young, who had already been denied by home keeper Sam Warrell, fired home a low shot to equalise in the 18th minute

After repelling several strong attacks, Kidlington regained the lead in the 39th minute when Anaclet Odhiambo headed home from Coyle’s pinpoint cross from the left.

There were chances at both ends early in the second half, Warrell stopping a blockbuster from Orlando-Young and shot from Folkestone substitute Conner Colcutt, while Kidlington central defender Henry Owen headed powerfully against a post.

Kidlington sewed up the result in the 88th minute when substitute Ryan Brooks surged forward before delivering an excellent low cross which the irrepressible Coyle fired into the net.

The visitors took a 2-0 lead in the first 15 minutes of this basement battle with goals from James Glover and Mark Francis.

Syd Camper pulled a goal back for the hosts in the 67th minute, before Aaron Ferris restored Wantage’s two-goal lead ten minutes from time.

Harry Horton netted the hosts’ second in the 88th minute.

Didcot Town won 1-0 at home to Barnstaple Town in a frantic match.

The winning goal came in the 55th minute when Declan Benjamin played a smart pass through to Ben Whitehead who slotted the ball through the legs of Barnstaple keeper Steve Oliver to extend the Railwaymen’s unbeaten run to four games.

They should have doubled their lead, but Conor Davis headed over from two yards, from Whitehead’s cross.

Barnstaple, who competed well throughout, came closest in the 67th minute when Shaun Copp clipped the bar with a free-kick.
