SAXTON Rovers moved up to second in North Berks League Division 1 after coming from behind to win 3-2 at Burghclere, writes RICHARD UNDERWOOD.

Alex Smith netted twice for the home side, but Rovers claimed a fourth straight victory thanks to goals from Kyle Allsworth, Tom Stanley and Frank Haines.

Gareth Fenton bagged a hat-trick in Harwell Village’s 5-2 victory at home to Faringdon Town Res in Division 2.

Paul Churchouse and Dan Cox-Rodgers also scored for the hosts, with Robbie Harrington and Drew McHenry on target for Faringdon.

Second-placed Steventon lost ground on leaders Hungerford Town Swifts as they were defeated 2-1 at North Oxford.

John Green was on the mark for the away side, but goals from John Chapman and Aaron Williams won it for the hosts.

Division 3 leaders Ardington & Lockinge were held to a 2-2 draw at Benson Lions.

Jamie Gregory and Tom Eatwell scored for Ardington, but Lions claimed a share of the points thanks to Luke Willis and Luke Vincent efforts.

Goals from Jason McDowell, Dave Sumersbee, Owen Bishop, Luke Faircloth and James Hicks gave Grove Rangers a fine 5-0 home victory over Compton.

There was an own goal at either end as Saxton Rovers Res were narrow 3-2 winners at home to Uffington United.

Michael Smith and Liam Smith were also on target for Saxton, while Josh Jefferies netted for Uffington.

Blewbury moved three points clear at the top of Division 4 with a 5-0 victory over Stanford Res, thanks to an Arran Gray hat-trick and goals from Dan Knapp and John Robinson.

Drayton handed out a 7-1 thumping to hosts Berinsfield Res, with Carl Bolton and Nathan Merry scoring two goals each.

Ricky Fletcher, Keiron Hughes and Lewis Collacot were also on the mark for the visitors, with Robert Lee scoring Berinsfield’s consolation.

Division 1 leaders Berinsfield claimed a place in the quarter-finals of the North Berks Cup with a comfortable 6-2 triumph away to Westminster.

David Murphy and Max Palmer each scored twice for Berinsfield, with further goals coming from Luke Holdsworth and Charlie Lee.

Kieran Hughes and Simon Joyce netted for the home side.

Berinsfield’s opponents in the next round will be Long Wittenham Athletic, who were narrow 2-1 winners at Hanney United.

Joe Cheong and Michael Farrelly grabbed the winning goals, with Andrew Hope replying for Hanney.
