DIDCOT Town returned to winning ways and stayed within two points of the Evo-Stik South League West Division play-offs with an emphatic 6-3 win at struggling Slimbridge.

George Reid (2), Morgan Williams, Adam Learoyd, Felipe Barcelos and Callum McNish netted as the Railwaymen recovered from their defeat to Mangotsfield United the previous week to record their first away victory of 2018.

Didcot were determined to put that result behind them and Reid hooked home after six minutes.

Callum McNish and Adam Learoyd hit the woodwork as the visitors searched for a second.

They eventually doubled their advantage on 30 minutes when Williams fired past goalkeeper Ollie Hall.

Learoyd then headed home and Reid curled in No 4 before the break.

Didcot were cruising, however two goals within a minute from Henry Birkett and Joe Wilton cut their lead.

Both sides went on to create chances, but the visitors put the game well and truly to bed when Barcelos fired past Hall before McNish made it 6-2.

Marley Thomas added a late consolation for Slimbridge, but Didcot had already done enough.

Didcot Tn: Bedwell, Jeacock, McNeill, Hayden (Thomas 60), Cattell, Learoyd, Reid, McNish, Barcelos (Joyce 71), Agyakwa, Williams (Humphries 60). Unused subs: Woodley, Barder.

Kidlington suffered a third-straight defeat when beaten 1-0 at basement boys Bishops Cleeve.

The Greens, who had previously lost to Slimbridge and Wimborne Town, remain 13th.

Kidlington did have the ball in the back of the net on 21 minutes, but Mark Janes’s effort was ruled out for offside.

That was as good as it got for the visitors as the first half ended goalless.

Cleeve scored what turned out to be the match-winner on 49 minutes when Ieuan Crowe squared to Ben Hands to fire past Sam Warrell.

Kidlington went in search of an equaliser and their best effort fell to Declan Benjamin late on.

But the substitute fired over from six yards out.

Kidlington: Warrell, E Odhiambo, Organ, Brown, Franklin (Williams 50), Gabbidon, Martin, Osborne-Ricketts, Martin (Benjamin 80), Janes, McDonagh, Browne (Bell 64). Unused subs: A Odhiambo, Organ.

North Leigh’s home game against Cinderford Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In the East Division, Thame United were beaten 3-2 by visitors Egham Town.

The hosts went behind after just 56 seconds when Michael Kalu scored.

Thame looked to respond immediately, with Jamie Essex, Liam Tack and Lynton Goss going close.

The equaliser arrived on 21 minutes when Dan West crossed for Goss to find the back of the net.

It was soon 2-1 to Thame after West forced the ball home for his 23rd goal of the season.

The hosts were in control, but a bit of misfortune saw them go into the break on level terms when Tom Ashworth’s clearance ricocheted off Kalu and beyond goalkeeper Craig Hill.

Thame never really recovered and Egham looked the more likely to score in the second half.

Kalu completed his hat-trick with 13 minutes to go after seeing his effort deflect off Essex and past Hill.

Thame Utd: Hill, Evans (Murray), Mepham, Johnston, Essex, Ashworth, Tack (Lynn), L Goss, Morris, West (Sturgess) A Goss.

Banbury United extended their unbeaten run to six games when beating St Ives Town 3-1 at home in the Premier Division.

Jack Self, Ricky Johnson and Tom Winters were on the scoresheet to lift the Puritans up to eighth in the table.

Banbury started well and a promising move saw Winters fire over after a storming run from the half-way line.

The hosts did not have to wait long to take the lead with the same player heavily involved.

Winters played a ninth-minute free-kick to the overlapping George Nash, whose low cross was fired home by Self.

But their lead only last five minutes after Ben Baker netted from close range.

Banbury looked to respond, but when Johnson headed a long ball from Luke Carnell to Elliot Sandy, he was unable to get his 25th-minute effort on target.

St Ives began the second period better and Tom Bradbury blocked an Ollie Snaith effort, with the ball falling to Peter Clarke, whose effort was cleared off the line by Paul Stonehouse.

Banbury also went close to taking the lead as a Ricky Johnson effort was hacked away.

Puritans goalkeeper Jack Harding was then called into action to deny Clark, before Bradbury nodded over at the other end.

The chances kept coming for the visitors as Clarke failed to get his 67th-minute header on target.

But Banbury scored the crucial third goal when Johnson nodded home a Winters cross on 72 minutes.

The victory was then sealed with nine minutes remaining after Winters fired into the corner of the net.

Banbury Utd: Harding, Ngathe, Stonehouse, Nash (Finch 29), Bradbury (Wise 85), Carnell, Ngamvoulou (Wright 65), Self, Johnson, Sandy, Winters. Unused subs: Awadh, Howards.
