Didcot Town returned from Somerset empty-handed after a disappointing 1-0 loss at Taunton Town in Evo-Stik Southern League Division 1 South & West.

Simon Ingram’s goal proved the difference.

Early on, Didcot keeper Jon Beames tipped Jon Vance’s 25-yard shot over, before Ryan Tappin tested Lee Matthews at the other end from a similar distance.

Andy Butler saw his fierce drive kept out by Beames early in the second half.

However, the visitors went behind when Ingram finished with ease.

Didcot went close to levelling when substitute Niall Hodgkins fired Richard Peirson’s throw past Matthews, only for it to hit the base of a post.

Danilson Vicente and Halls missed half chances for Didcot, but Taunton held on.
