ALCHESTER held on to defeat Olney 20-19 and end their three-match losing streak.

Olney began well, but Alchester fly half Tom Miles slotted a penalty on 23 minutes. The hosts bagged their first try when prop Nick Brits fed No 8 Joe McEneaney, who charged under the posts for Miles to convert.

It got better on 48 minutes when Olney allowed Miles’s high clearance to bounce and Matt Flegg scooped up the loose ball to sprint home.

Miles’s conversion made it 17-0, but Olney hit back with a converted try.

A Miles penalty proved decisive for Alchester, although Olney replied with a penalty try, which was converted, and another score.

Miles had a penalty goal disallowed that his side felt had been successful, but they closed out the win.

Fly half Oli Henderson’s last-gasp penalty gave Wallingford a 13-11 home victory over Drifters.

Henderson had kicked poorly throughout the match, but held his nerve when it mattered most.

Centre Ralph Smith had a try disallowed for a forward pass, but Wallingford took the lead on 30 minutes when supporting scrum half Derek Viljoen went over.

Drifters replied with a Mark Bannister penalty and Rob Wills was gifted a try by a mix-up between Henderson and Viljoen.

Replacement Ben Selwood snaffled a loose off-load to run in Wallingford’s second try.

Drifters looked to have won it with Bannister’s 75th-minute penalty, but Miles had other ideas.

Morning leaders Grove lost 15-10 at Buckingham.

Roger Sevier’s penalty put Grove ahead, but Buckingham hit back with a try.

Grove’s Guy Nicholl and Steve Dixey were both sin-binned before Buckingham bagged a converted try.

The visitors became increasingly frustrated with the referee, while Buckingham kicked a penalty.

A 75-metre try from Nicholl, converted by Sevier, earned Grove a bonus point.
