OXFORD University head coach James Wade has urged his players to be more clinical when they take on Major Stanley’s XV in today’s Iffley Road showpiece (3.30).

Wade’s side lost 9-5 to Worcester last week in a match they had enough chances to win and he urged the Dark Blues to be ruthless against their scratch opponents.

“We have to be a bit more clinical and finish our chances better,” Wade said.

“We had opportunities last week from the forwards who could have scored two tries, but we messed them up.

“So I think all-round we need to tidy up our play and the players must understand what mistakes they are making.”

Captain Jacob Taylor returns at full back after missing the Worcester match with an infected thumb.

Henry Lamont moves to left wing, with Ed Doe dropping out.

James Wisson returns from injury to start at hooker in place of Nick Gardner, while Fergus Taylor replaces Graeme MacGilchrist at lock.

Fly half George Cullen and prop Lewis Anderson continue their ever-present runs in the side.

Stanley’s include London Welsh players Ed Hoadley, Chris Elder, James Copsey, Eddie Aholelei, Daniel Browne and Jesse Liston.

Aholelei is joined by his fellow Tongan international, Oxford Harlequins player-coach Keni Fisilau.

Stanley’s also hope to field three members of the Samoan touring squad.
