Alchester's season of struggle continued in Southern Counties North on Saturday when they crashed 47-18 at home to Wootton Bassett, who thus recorded their first away win of the season.
Bassett were soon on the scoreboard through a try under the posts from David Martin, converted by David Hogg.
From a rare attack, Alchester equalised when Dan Limber went over for a try, with Tom Miles adding the extras.
A Miles penalty then put Alchester 8-5 in front against the run of play.
But this lead did not last long as Bassett scored further first-half tries through Connor Tomley and Phil Bardwell.
Miles replied with a penalty for Alchester.
In the second half, the visitors scored four tries through Andrew Phoenix, Gavin Ougan and replacements Jon Clarke and Sam Robinson.
Hogg took his tally to six conversions.
The only Alchester response was an unconverted try from Charlie Surman.
