OXFORDSHIRE RFU chairman, Paddy Gregan, says having the World Cup Trophy visit Oxford is a great opportunity for the county.
The sport’s biggest prize, the Webb Ellis Cup, will be at St Hugh’s College and South Park on August 22-23.
Its arrival will be just weeks before England bid to win the tournament on home soil, and for the first time since their 2003 triumph.
The visit is part of a 100-day tour, which will see the cup travel across the country, before arriving at Twickenham on September 18 for the opening ceremony.
Details are still being finalised, but the cup will be presented to club volunteers at St Hugh’s on Saturday, August 22.
Sevens and touch tournaments will be held in South Park the following day, where it will be on display to the public.

Gregan said: “It is a great opportunity for Oxford.
“On the Sunday it will be a public event and open to all.
“We get the cup in the latter stages – at a time when interest will be heightened.
“It will be like a summer fete, with food, drink and good times for all.”
