Scrum half Greg Goodfellow described joining Chinnor as an “exciting new chapter” in his career.

The former Redruth half back, who has represented Scotland at U18, U19 and U21 levels and is set to make his first appearance in a pre-season friendly at home to Birmingham & Solihull on Saturday.

Goodfellow adds to Chinnor’s options at scrum half with Frank Jones and Ricky Hopwood also competing for a starting place in their National League 2 South opener at Southend on September 5.

He said: “After speaking to Matt (Williams, director of rugby) it was clear Chinnor have the ambition and drive I’m looking for.

“I can’t wait to be challenging the guys for the nine jersey.

“It’s going to be an exciting new chapter in my career.”

Goodfellow joins forwards Michael Owen and Loma Kivalu in signing for the club in recent weeks.

Chinnor were beaten 47-19 by National League 1 outfit Coventry last weekend and Ferguson believes pre-season will stand his side in good stead.

He said: “I am truly excited to see how we develop as a squad throughout a really tough pre season fixture list.

“The boys are training hard and I’m confident we will be in great shape come Southend away.”

Meanwhile, Henley Hawks begin their National League 1 preparations with a trip to Welsh side Bedwas, near Caerphilly on Saturday (3).

Head coach Pete Davies has signed 18 new players after securing promotion in March.
