SAM Barrett scored a last-minute try as Abingdon went top of the BB&O Premier Division with a dramatic 30-28 victory over Alchester.

In an end-to-end encounter, Luke Matthew, Gareth Smith, and Lee Taylor also went over for Abingdon, Chris Stables converting once, while the hosts added two penalties.

Trailing 28-23 with a minute to go, Barrett crossed and Stables added the extras to clinch a thrilling victory.

No 8 Matthew Beckley and winger Jack Briggs both touched down twice for Alchester, with Adam Thompson kicking two penalties and a conversion.

Gosford All Blacks secured two bonus points as they lost 30-23 at Milton Keynes.

Tim Ellis kicked a penalty as they trailed 11-3 at half-time.

After Joe Pigott was sin-binned, the hosts took advantage with two scores, but prop Tom Heydon touched down for an unconverted try as they trailed 23-8.

On 70 minutes, Milton Keynes stretched their lead to 27 points with a converted score, but a revitalised Gosford hit back.

Ellis went over under the posts for an unconverted try, before Dan Hughes scored in the corner for 30-18.

Ben Bodinham then burst through to earn Gosford two bonus points.

Wheatley edged Hungerford 15-14, while Chipping Norton lost 46-12 to Slough.

In the Championship, Oliver Auriacombe crossed twice as Harwell beat Faringdon 30-3.

The south Oxfordshire side went top on points difference.

Rob Douglas, Dave Paton and Mike Phillips also went over, while the latter added five points with the boot.

Didcot beat Berkshire Shire Hall 30-9, Oxford recorded their first win with a 26-24 triumph over Aldermaston, while Littlemore lost 33-10 at Phoenix.
