Grove ended a three-match winless run in South West 1 East with a 35-20 victory over Swindon at Cane Lane.

Captain James Eckert’s converted score, Brendan White’s try and a Mike Martin penalty helped them to a 15-13 lead at half-time.

They then secured the victory and a four-try bonus-point, with Jack Horrocks and Martin crossing for converted scores in the second half.

Fly half Martin also kicked two penalties.

Wallingford ended Reading Abbey’s unbeaten start in Southern Counties North with a 19-17 win at Hithercroft.

Gavin Harmer crashed over for the hosts and Phil Dawes kicked two penalties as Wallingford led 11-10.

Another Dawes penalty extended their lead, before Ian Jeffreys raced in from 30 yards to make it 19-10.

The visitors scored a late converted try, but could not deny Wallingford. 

Abingdon ran in seven tries as they continued their fine start in the BB&O Premier Division with a 54-12 win over Chipping Norton.

Ash Davidson (2), Gareth Smith, Lee Taylor, Robert Tyreman, Luke Mathews and James Webb were Abingdon’s try scorers.

Chris Stables converted five and also kicked three penalties.

In the Championship, Sam Lacy and James Mason both crossed twice as Didcot breezed past Aldermaston 68-15 to maintain their unbeaten start.

Andy Pynegar, Ronnie Booth, John Stephens, Tee Kay, Carl Betteridge and Josh Witts also went over.
