JUNIOR Fatialofa ran in a brilliant solo try as Chinnor earned their first win of the season with a 15-11 victory over Canterbury.
After collecting just six bonus points from their opening seven National League 2 South games, Chinnor were in desperate need of a victory ahead of their trip to Kent.
Will Millett got them off to a good start with a penalty.
Canterbury’s Ryan Ward was then yellow carded and the visitors capitalised on 15 minutes with Darren Oliver driving over.
Millett added the extras to make it 10-0.
A Charles Kingsman penalty helped the hosts reduce the deficit and the score remained 10-3 at half-time.
Four minutes after the break, Kingsman slotted another three-pointer, but illdiscipline was to prove their downfall again.
Royce Cadman and Martin Beaumont were sin-binned and Chinnor took full advantage once more.
Fatialofa weaved his way through the defence to score an unconverted try on 55 minutes to make it 15-6.
Canterbury pushed the visitors back, but could only breach Chinnor’s defence on one occasion with James Green going over for an unconverted score.
Henley Hawks suffered a heavy 54-5 defeat at fourthplaced Richmond in National League 1.
An Andy Hall penalty and unconverted tries from Charlie Broughton and Jack Alcock gave the hosts a 13-0 lead.
Will Robinson went over for Henley, but Richmond ended the half 25-5 ahead after Chris Davies and Seb Adreniran-Olule crossed for unconverted scores.
After the break, Adam Gadsby touched down to make it 30-5, before Cameron Mitchell crossed and Hall added the extras.
Tom Sergeant, Chris Davies and Rob Kirby were then all driven over in the last quarter to further punish Hawks.
