OXFORD Harlequins ran in seven tries to head into the festive break in fine style with a 47-5 victory over basement boys Swanage & Wareham on Saturday.

The victory moved Quins up to fourth in South West 1 East, preserving their unbeaten home record at Marston Ferry Road this season.

Centre Jack Crowe crossed in the fifth minute with a 30-metre run to the try line.

And moments later Jack Robinson went over under the posts and Sam Watkinson added the extras to make it 12-0.

Quins had the bit between their teeth and flanker Robin Craig crashed over, before Watkinson danced his way through to score.

The latter converted both tries for a 26-0 lead.

On 35 minutes, flanker Richard Battson finished off a fine team move and just before the break Robinson sped over for his second.

The ever-reliable Watkinson kicked both conversions to make it 40-0.

Swanage frustrated their hosts in the second half, but they were unable to stop hooker Matt Edney crossing on 55 minutes.

Watkinson added the extras.

The visitors got on the scoreboard when Garry Smith went over in the last minute.

Third-placed Witney came from behind to beat leaders Salisbury 28-22.

Referee Nicola Reynolds got into the Christmas spirit as she officiated in a Santa Claus outfit and it was the visitors who made the better start.

A Thomas Pottage penalty and Oliver Bowden try made it 8-0 after four minutes.

But Witney responded through unconverted tries from Gareth Campbell and Rhys Morgan.

Salisbury hit back, James King going over and Pottage converting.

And it was 22-10 at half-time when Thomas Ranoboro was driven over.

Pottage added the extras.

With the wind in their favour, Witney roared back.

George Lewis kicked a penalty and they were only two points in arrears when he converted his own try on 57 minutes.

The hosts were dominant and with some of Salisbury’s front row forced off leading to unopposed scrums, Witney clinched victory.

Morgan went over for his second and Lewis slotted a penalty to wrap up the win.

Grove suffered a fourth-straight defeat, losing 38-18 at Reading.
