A LATE converted try by Antony Marris helped Wallingford seal a narrow 17-16 victory over Drifters in Southern Counties North.

With the hosts having a man in the sin-bin early on, Wallingford’s Phil Dawes slotted a penalty for 3-0.

But the visitors soon lost James Springer to a yellow card and Drifters replied with a three-pointer.

The hosts lost another player to the bin and Wallingford’s Pete McKinley crossed. Dawes added the extras to make it 10-3.

A converted try and two penalties saw the hosts lead 16-10.

But after the match was moved to an adjacent pitch due to a nasty head injury to a Drifters player, Antony Marris went over and Dawes added the extras.
