A LATE converted try by Antony Marris helped Wallingford seal a narrow 17-16 victory over Drifters in Southern Counties North.
With the hosts having a man in the sin-bin early on, Wallingford’s Phil Dawes slotted a penalty for 3-0.
But the visitors soon lost James Springer to a yellow card and Drifters replied with a three-pointer.
The hosts lost another player to the bin and Wallingford’s Pete McKinley crossed. Dawes added the extras to make it 10-3.
A converted try and two penalties saw the hosts lead 16-10.
But after the match was moved to an adjacent pitch due to a nasty head injury to a Drifters player, Antony Marris went over and Dawes added the extras.
Grove suffered a fourth-straight defeat in South West 1 East, losing 38-18 at Reading.
In the BB&O Premier, Abingdon fell to a 34-27 defeat at Tadley.
Meanwhile, Harwell beat Farnham Royal 19-10 in the Championship.
Ben Granville, Aaron Spencer and James Hoskyns-Jones scored Harwell’s tries, with Mike Phillips adding two conversions.
Didcot lost 14-8 to Littlemore.
Frankie Dorrian scored the south Oxfordshire club’s try and Josh Witts added a penalty.
Faringdon edged Oxford 30-29.
