HEAD coach James Kerr says Banbury will not change their mantra of bringing youngsters through to their first team.

The Midlands 2 West (South) and Oxfordshire Cup winners made the most of the talent that has come through their Colts team this season.

Out of the 32 players who have played for the Bulls first XV, 24 came through their youth set-up.

George Grieve, still a Colt at the age of 18, is the youngest, while Rory Dymond is the oldest at 35.

Kerr said: “Our squad is a nucleus of Banbury youngsters.

“Something like 75 per cent of the squad has come through the Colts set-up and we will continue to source a lot of talent from that pool to make sure when we achieve success that it is sustainable.”

2015/16 BULLS PLAYERS WHO STARTED IN COLTS SET-UP

Bannister, Boyle, Burge, Carr-Archer, Castle, Daniels, Deegan, Dymond, Fox, Gandy, Goode, Grieve, Heywood, Isham, Jacob Mills, Joe Mills, S Mills, Nutt, O’Dwyer, Page, C Phillips, E Phillips, Stevenson, Walsh.

BANBURY will host the RFU Girls National Cup Finals on Sunday, April 24.

Newark and Winscombe will face off in the under 15 final at 1.30pm, before Pulborough take on Worcester at 3pm in the under 18 showpiece.

Banbury Belles Ladies captain Keeli Wood was a part of the team which helped the club secure the hosting of the event.

She said: “I’m sure hosting such a high-profile event will inspire the girls playing in our younger age-groups by showing just what they could achieve.”
