WINGER Oscar Heath scored an impressive 30 points as Chinnor grabbed sixth place on the final day of the season with a 45-26 win over Southend Saxons.

They had to do it the hard way, trailing 19-0 after half an hour, in the National League 2 South clash.

But Heath crossed four times and kicked five conversions to inspire the victory.

Despite Chinnor’s bright start, the game turned when Junior Fatialofa and Jonathan Phipps were sin-binned.

Saxons took advantage, with Iain Meads (2) and Sunny Gay crossing to make it 19-0.

But James Tyas and Heath scored converted tries as Chinnor cut the deficit to five points at the break.

The hosts dominated the second half, with Heath adding three further tries.

Kieran Goss and George Messum then completed the home side’s scoring.

Former Chinnor winger Reuben Haile went over for Southend late on.

Relegated Henley ended their National League 1 campaign with a 31-12 defeat at home to Rosslyn Park.

Trailing 17-12 with five minutes remaining, Hawks went on to concede 14 points.

Park took the lead through Sam Shires’ unconverted try.

Visiting prop Harry Elrington and Hawks skipper Dave Clements were sin-binned for separate offences, but the hosts levelled when James Davies touched down.

Tom Whiteley converted his own try for Park to make it 12-5, while Henley had Jake Randall yellow-carded.

Hawks’ Curtis Langdon was next in the sin-bin after the break, but Randall’s converted try made it 12-12.

Matt Hawke gave the visitors a 17-12 lead, before Mike Macfarlane and David Vincent tries took the game away from Henley.
