FORMER Scottish international prop Dave Hilton makes a surprise debut for Oxford in their Berks, Bucks & Oxon Championship opener at home to Chipping Norton.
The 46-year-old former Bath player, who played 42 times for his country, will play at loose head.
Oxford head coach Will Brewer, who played with Hilton as a colt at Bristol, asked him to run a scrummage session during pre-season.
Hilton was so impressed with the turn-out that he decided to play for the club.
Brewer said: ‘I am delighted the Dave is coming over to us. He will add experience and be the on-field coach we need.”
