CHINNOR’S brilliant start to the season showed no sign of slowing down in a 61-28 victory at Barnes.

The National League 2 South leaders ran in nine tries, with back-row forward George Messum crossing twice on his last appearance for the club.

Chinnor’s superiority was evident early on as Danny Barnes crossed for the first try after two minutes.

Most of the action was in the home side’s half and after they collapsed the scrum on a number of occasions, the visitors were awarded a penalty try.

The game opened up and Barnes hit back with two tries in the space of three minutes through Tom O’Toole and Ciaran Smith.

O’Toole converted both scores to give the home side a 14-12 lead.

Chinnor defended resolutely as Barnes looked for another try and the visitors broke on the stroke of half-time with Junior Fatialofa going over.

Bertie Hopkin converted to make it 19-14.

The visitors took control after the break, scoring 21 points in a dominant ten-minute spell.

Kieran Goss sprinted in before Messum and CJ Osazuwa forced their way over.

Hopkin added the extras on all three occasions to make it 40-14.

Barnes replied as O’Toole converted his own try, but Messum forced his way over for his second and Chinnor’s seventh.

Hopkins added the extras.

The hosts dug deep and Jamie Collins’s try, converted by O’Toole, secured a bonus point.

But Chinnor were not finished and added two further scores.

Captain Bevon Armitage crossed, before Tom Price went over, with Hopkin converting both.
