FREDDIE Cracknell scored two tries as holders Banbury progressed to the Oxfordshire Cup final, with a dominant 35-5 home win over Chinnor Falcons.

Two Ed Phillips penalties gave Bulls a 6-0 lead, before winger Cracknell intercepted a pass and swallow-dived over the try line.

Phillips converted to make it 13-0.

Cracknell crossed for his second, after an erratic bounce from an up-and-under evaded the Chinnor defence and the Bulls back dotted down.

Phillips added the extras.

Chinnor hit back with an unconverted try as Banbury led 20-5 at half-time.

The hosts went on to score three unconverted tries after the break as Jack Briggs, Phillips and Ian Isham dived over.

Bulls await the victor of the other semi-final between Bicester and Oxford University Greyhounds, which is due to be played on Tuesday, February 14.

The final will be played at Iffley Road on Thursday, April 13.

Meanwhile, Oxford University Whippets will face Blue Boar in the Oxfordshire Shield final on March 18/19.

The students beat Alchester 10-5 in their semi-final last Friday night, with Ross Toward and Brook Keats the try-scorers.
