MATT Williams insists there is a lot of positivity in the Chinnor camp as his side aim to keep their play-off hopes alive.

The Thame-based club need a bonus-point victory against Taunton Titans at Kingsey Road, where they have not been beaten since January 2016, tomorrow.

Their National League 2 South play-off rivals Old Elthamians, only ahead on number of victories, travel to Cinderford, who have won eight of their last nine home games.

Williams knows, regardless of what happens in Gloucestershire, Chinnor must pick up maximum points this weekend to have a chance of moving up to second going into the final round of fixtures.

And despite every game becoming more critical, the director of rugby stressed his players are in a good frame of mind.

Williams said: “There’s a hell of a lot of positivity.

"At this moment, the camp is calm and it’s about taking care of our business and that’s ten points in two games.

"Knit together the fact we need five points, for a couple of the boys it’s their last home game for Chinnor, and we’re unbeaten, and it will create a lot of positive emotion.”

He added: “If the score’s 65-64, it doesn’t matter, it’s simply about five points this weekend.

“I said to the boys we can’t look over our shoulder at what’s happening in the Forest of Dean, but to keep it in the back of our mind that it’s difficult for OEs to score four tries.

“We can only take care of ourselves, the pressure is firmly on OEs.”

Chinnor are also hoping for another bumper crowd this weekend, having broken the 1,000 mark at three home games this season.

Williams believes the Kingsey Road support can play a big part against Taunton.

He said: “It’s not a coincidence, when we have great gates we have a great result.

“On the pitch, there’s nothing more inspiring to a player than seeing all four sides of the pitch jam-packed.”

Charlie Broughton replaces Henry Lamont on the wing and Tom Burns starts at No 8.

Henley Hawks host relegation-threatened Barnstaple at Dry Leas for the first time.

Rob Bell returns to the pack after injury, while loose-head Jim Hadfield makes his 200th appearance for Hawks.

Oxford Harlequins and Grove face a nervy final weekend in South West 1 East.

Both sides know a bonus point against Old Patesians and Swindon respectively will keep them in the sixth tier.

Ramez Farahani, Ollie Barlow, Robin Craig and Guy Fairburn return for Quins.

If they do not pick up a point, they will have a watchful eye on Windsor’s trip to Chippenham, hoping for either a draw or the losing team does not earn more than one bonus point.

Witney make the short trip to county champions Banbury, knowing a win will secure a third-straight fourth place finish.
