HENLEY HAWKS came from behind to clinch a 28-24 victory at home to Redingensians.

The hosts were quickly out of the blocks in the National League 2 South encounter, David Hyde scampering 30 metres to score. Connor Murphy converting.

However, Jack Rossiter’s interception try saw the visitors respond on five minutes. Simon Humberstone added the extras.

Humberstone and Murphy traded penalties, but the Rams led 24-10 at half-time.

Steven Bryant crossed on 15 minutes, before they were awarded a penalty try, which led to Henley’s Brad Cook being sin-binned.

Humberstone converted both scores.

Hawks took the game to their visitors and Murphy kicked a penalty to reduce the deficit to 11 points.

Alan Awcock was sin-binned for the hosts, but they responded well and the Rams’ Greg Illingworth was also shown a yellow card.

Finally the pressure told as Rob Bell crashed over on 59 minutes, Murphy converting, to make it 24-20.

Robbie Stapley was also sin-binned for Hawks, but a driving line-out led to Dave Manning’s unconverted try to put them 25-24 in front.

A late Murphy penalty then made sure of victory.
