WALLINGFORD RC scooped an impressive 15 victories over two days at the Oxford City Royal Regatta.

Lucy Walker and Sarah Fabes led the way, playing their part in three wins apiece across an excellent weekend for the club.

Wallingford shone particularly over the longer, 1000m, Saturday programme, clocking up 11 successes, the majority for their women members.

J16 rower Walker won the IM1 pair with her sister Alice on Saturday.

On Sunday, she added victories in the WJ16 single and the WJ18 double scull with Katie Metalli.

Metalli also won a second pot on Sunday in a very close race in her WJ18 single.

Fabes’s hat-trick came in winning the novice single, plus the novice and IM3 double with Susana Hancock.

Club captain Eve Newton won the WIM2 singles and WIM3 singles on Saturday, beating Lucy Walker in the final of the latter.

Wallingford’s youngest competitors, Georgia Swiatoniowska and Poppy Dawe, also triumphed twice – in the WJ15 double sculls and a WJ15 quad with clubmates Morgan Sims, Rosie Yener and cox Gabi Moss.

Having only started rowing last September, this was Yener’s debut race and win.

Other junior victories came from Arthur Arnould and Will Mangion in the novice double sculls.

The last race of the weekend saw a maiden victory from Wallingford’s Gabriel Llewelyn-Worthy in his J16 single.

At the other end of the age range, Walllingford bagged wins in the masters E eight and senior men’s four categories.
