THREE Didcot Taekwon-Do members have been selected for the England team in this month’s world championships following the team’s success at the London Open Charity TKD event.

Richard De Winton, Kirsty Miller and Faye Miller have been called up by their country, and they will be joined at the championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, by Wantage instructor Carl Davis.

The London event was used as a final selection event for Plovdiv, and Didcot won a remarkable 17 medals – with just ten competitors.

Jonathan Hebert led the way with two golds and a bronze.

Kirsty Miller won two gold medals, De Winton and Damien Roques both won gold and silver, and Przemyslaw Psiur gold.

Faye Miller and Megan Dodridge each picked up silver and bronze, Liam Miller collected two bronze, and Joshua Tucker bronze. Sienna Carbonari missed out on the medal stages.

The event, at Guildford Spectrum, is held annually to raise funds for the charity Cardiac Risk in the Young, which raises awareness of SADS – Sudden Adult Death Syndrome – in local communities, and supports affected families.
