RADLEY College sailors made history when they won the youth prize in the SB20 class at the Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week.
Skippered by 17-year-old George Chilvers, with crewmates George Dillon-Robinson, Kit Morrell and Felix Rainer, all 14, they beat much older crews in their boat ‘Trouble and Strife’ to take the title for the first time.
Radley sailing master George Barker said: “It was their first experience of sailing on the sea.
“It’s also the first time they’ve sailed a regatta without me on board.
“The SB20 sailing teaches them about team work, because all the other sailing we do is in dinghies so just one or two onboard.
“When the mist came down they did particularly well.
“They gained places, probably because they are dinghy sailors so they could sail the boat through feel, and they overtook seven boats.”
