WANTAGE trainer Henry Candy was full of praise for Chain Of Daisies after the filly took another step up the ladder by capturing the Dubai Pride Stakes in game fashion at Newmarket.
Dane O’Neill repeated the front-running tactics which had seen the three-year-old land handicaps at Goodwood, Sandown and York, to take the Listed contest over a mile and a quarter by a neck from Crystal Zvezda.
Candy said of the 11-1 shot: “She is magic and she’s grown all year. She’s now a big girl. I think she’ll continue her progression as she’s got the size and scope to develop.”
The trainer is set to go for glory on Saturday with the unbeaten Twilight Son entered in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot.
Scrutineer stormed home by nine lengths under Silvestre de Sousa at Nottingham to open his account for West Ilsley trainer Mick Channon.
The trainer and jockey also combined to strike with Kassia in a Pontefract nursery and Harrison in a Goodwood maiden stakes.
Hughie Morrison’s East Ilsley stables continued their purple patch with Kissy Suzuki and 25-1 shot Top Beak opening their accounts on the Flat in maiden stakes at Wolverhampton and Windsor respectively, while Samson made a winning debut in a Towcester bumper.
Whatcombe trainer Paul Cole was among the winners on both sides of the Channel with Silverheels scoring at Chantilly and Ladurelli at Chelmsford.
