Tom Williams may not be old enough to drive on the road, but the Oxfordshire teenager is making a name for himself on the rally scene.

The Shiplake College pupil lies fourth in the Formula 1000 championship – a rally series for drivers aged from 14 to 17.

Williams, 16, who drives a Nissan Micra, comes from a racing background, with his parents David and Sadie competing in endurance events.

He said: “I have had a fantastic season so far. I have learnt huge amounts doing these rallies.

“I’m getting quicker and quicker, and aim for better finishing positions in the next few rallies.”
