WILLIAMS driver Felipe Massa is hoping to fight his way on to the podium at this weekend’s Chinese Grand Prix.

Grove-based Williams picked up 20 points from the opening two rounds of the season and sit fourth in the constructors championship.

After fifth and eighth place finishes in Australia and Bahrain respectively, Massa is eyeing a first rostrum since last season’s Italian Grand Prix.

The 34-year-old said: “I think Shanghai is a nice track and it’s always fantastic to go back to China.

“I’ve had good races there, including last year when I finished fifth.

“I look forward to another good race, and maybe even finishing on the podium.”

The FIA has approved a return to the 2015 qualifying format.

All 11 teams voted to scrap the new unpopular elimination process, which saw two drivers ultimately battle for pole.

The 2015 format involves two knock-out sessions before ten cars are left for the highest positions.
