ABINGDON’S Rosie Greer and Kiera-Lily Rumley qualified for the national finals after successes in the southern region compulsory grades competition at Southampton.

Greer, nine, took gold in floor and vault and will now travel to Stoke-on-Trent to compete as part of the southern region team at the nationals on May 7-8.

In grade two, Rumley took gold, coming first in bars and on floor as well as second on range and conditioning. She will compete in the nationals at Stoke on May 21-22.

In the youngest category, seven-year olds Tiegan Trafford, Olivia Kenny and Alica Takanami-Baker all won medals.

There were also medals for Abingdon’s boys at the Bucks Artistic Open – and for some, it was their first ever time competing in the six disciplines.

Harry Winsey (U9) won the vault, while Charlie Barker came second on the rings, and Tai Anderson was second on vault and third on the high bar and rings.

Oliver Markham (U10) finished third overall, winning gold on vault, silver on parallel bars and high bar plus bronze on floor and pommel. Joshua Mitchell took silver on rings.

In the 12 Category, Kian Downs and Lewis Jones came third and sixth overall.

Downs came first on floor and rings, second on vault and high bar and third on pommel.
