ABINGDON Vale’s young swimmers were celebrating after winning the Thames Valley Junior League B gala final at Amersham last weekend.
The event involved competitors aged nine to 12, with Abingdon taking on Maidenhead Marlins A & B teams, Amersham B, Chesham, and Newbury.
Their squad were placed third after some technical disqualifications.
But they rallied with a final batch of excellent swims to take top spot by eight points with an impressive 21 wins from 50 events.
Newbury were second, with Maidenhead A finishing third.
Abingdon coach James Halfhead said: “Our young swimmers held their nerve and showed real determination to pull back the win.
“The demonstrated their capabilities with good technique and exciting, fast swimming”
The A gala final, held in Reading on the same night, was won by Windsor.
