WALLINGFORD RC’s former captain Carl Purchase was among those honoured at a special naming ceremony.
A single scull, one of six new boats, was named in Purchase’s honour by president, Ken Lester.
His wife, Ros, who is the town’s mayor, chose the name Portcullis for another single scull.
South Oxfordshire District Council awarded the club a £20,000 grant and chairman, Paul Harrison, and Imran Lokhon, who represents Wallingford, named the quad scull Winterbrook.
Contributions from the club bar also helped fund the purchases and treasurer, Stuart Darby christened a pair, Raise the Bar.
Further donations came from Wallingford’s annual regatta, while a new eight was named in honour of Gus Gray, who coxed the veterans and coached the juniors for more than 30 years before passing away in 2014.
A single scull was also named after the late Angus Dawe by his wife Helen and daughter Poppy.
