FRILFORD Heath moved to the top of Section 1 in the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League despite a home defeat to defending champions Burford.
The 2-1 loss saw them leapfrog Oxford City, who were not in action but have two matches in hand.
Frilford’s point came in the opening tie, as Tim Smith and Lee White beat Simon Hopkins and John Wilks 2 & 1.
The second match also ended on the 17th green, where the visitors’ Sam Tanner and Michael Potts won against Jon Rusk and Jamie Burns.
The deciding contest saw Burford’s Aaron Ashberry and John Lally beat Dean Newbold and Gary Hamilton 4 & 2.
l Nearly 200 players took part in Frilford Heath's annual Pro-Am in aid of captain John Gowing's chosen charity Helping Hearts.
Members Paul Smith, Steve Helliwell and Mark Smith, playing alongside Donnington Valley professional Tom Fleming, won the team prize with a score of 125.
Martin Woodbridge (Wokingham) won the pros’ competition with a seven-under-par 65.
