MAX Bolcato rounded off a successful season for Abingdon Vale by collecting a fourth place at the ASA National Championships at Sheffield.

Making his first appearance at this event, the 14 year-old produced two tremendous swims in the 100m and 200m butterfly, making the finals in both

A personal best time of 1min 2.72secs in the 100m final gave him fouth place.

During the season, Vale had the largest number of swimmers ever competing at the South East Regional Championships.

The club brought home ten medals with Lottie James (12) winning gold in the 200 in the individual medley, in addition to silvers and two bronzes.

Bolcato collected two silvers and a bronze and Seb Rawes, 12, a bronze in the 50 butterfly.

Head coach Amanda Ford said: "I am so proud of all the swimmers, their hard work and dedication to training over the year has certainly paid off."
