EAST Ilsley trainer Hughie Morrison could give Fun Mac another crack at the Group 1 Prix Du Cadran next month after the gelding posted his first win since May 2015.

The five-year-old has kept top company – including running in the Ascot Gold Cup in June – since his last success, which came over a mile and six furlongs at Salisbury.

However, a return to the Wiltshire track and a drop in class for the Bathwick Tyres “Persian Punch” Conditions Stakes saw the 13-8 favourite gallop home two lengths clear of Vive Ma Fille under Jim Crowley.

A trip to Chantilly could now follow for the big French stayers’ prize – a race in which he finished third in behind Mille Et Mille last year when it was held at Longchamp.

Crowley was also on board when Sweet Dragon Fly struck for Whatcombe trainer Paul Cole at Lingfield.

The three-year-old bounced back to winning ways by taking a six-furlong fillies’ handicap by a length and a quarter from Sixties Sue.

Cole also provided Crowley’s title rival, Silvestre De Sousa, with a winner when Count Calabash followed up last month’s Brighton victory with a smooth success at Bath.

Sent off the 5-6 favourite for a nursery over a mile and a quarter, the two-year-old cruised home by four lengths from Zamadance.

Golden Wedding recorded his third win this year for Blewbury trainer Eve Johnson Houghton with a hard-fought success at Chepstow.

The ultra-consistent four-year-old battled home to beat Jabbaar by half a length in a mile handicap under Charlie Bishop.

Noble Peace, from Henry Candy’s Wantage stables, returned to form after a disappointing run last time to take a seven-furlong handicap at Leicester.

The three-year-old put his best foot forward to hold off In The Red by a length, with Harry Bentley on board.
