Abingdon’s Sam Coxon, Ece Besen and sensei Ben Richardson earned bronze medals for England at the KS World Shoto Federation Karate Do Championships in Glasgow.
The trio, from Can Do Martial Arts in Abingdon, were among more than 1,000 competitors from 30 countries to take part in kata (patterns) and kumite (fighting) events.
In the team kumite, Coxon and Richardson missed out on a place in the final against Japan by just half a point, claiming bronze for England.
Besen was also among the medals, winning bronze in the girls’ age 14-15 kumite category.
