WALLINGFORD RC’s septuagenarian sculler, Sean Morris continued his winning form with victory at the Scullers Head of the River, writes John Wiggins.
Morris’ race time of just over 24 minutes for the four and a quarter miles was 16 seconds clear of his nearest rival in the masters H category.
It was also faster than his slightly younger clubmate, Charles Parry who was third in the masters G category, an event won by a former Wallingford man, Tom Bishop.
Another former Wallingford sculler Andrea Dennis, who sculled for GB as a lightweight, retiring in 2012 but now back in a boat at City of Oxford RC won win the masters A group as well being the ninth fastest woman of the 160 starters.
Still at Wallingford, Harry Powell was sixth in the masters C category and was in the top 100 finishers overall
Abingdon RC contested a number of masters events, with Bev Ashton coming third in the masters B and Karen Roberts sixth in the C category.
