FRILFORD Heath’s new captains handled the nerves as they got their years in charge under way in style with a pair of excellent tee shots.

The traditional curtain-raising drive-in attracted dozens of members across the two events, but Peter Creasy and Iona Smith kept their cool.

Men’s captain Creasy had wet conditions to deal with, but still reached 202 yards with his ceremonial shot.

The well-wishers on the day included representatives from the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, who are his chosen charity for the next 12 months.

Smith racked up an impressive 187 yards and will be donating proceeds from her year as Frilford’s ladies captain to the Mulberry Bush School in Standlake.
