CULHAM Moto Park will host the opening stage of the 2017 ACU British Motocross Championship a week tomorrow.
Several years have passed since the track was used in the prestigious eight-round competition, which returns for next week’s curtain-raiser, which features three classes of bike competing in a two-race format.
Former champion Kristian Whatley, from Oxford, is hoping to regain his title in the 450cc MX 1 class.
The 27-year-old lifted the crown in 2013 and is aiming to hit the heights again after a poor campaign last year.
Geartec Husqvarna Racing’s Luke Norris, from Bicester, is looking to build on a 19th-placed finish last year in the 250cc MX2 class.
Gareth Hockey, director of organisers RHL Activities, said: “With the line-up of riders and the Culham circuit, which is a former Grand Prix track, it’s going to provide some really exciting racing.
“It’s a race where everyone wants to kick-off their season well. With it being an old-school track we know it could be one of the best on the calendar.”
