OPAL Tiara is set to go for glory for Mick Channon’s West Ilsley stables in the Dubai Turf at Meydan on Saturday.
The four-year-old filly is among 14 entries for the $6m contest, which is run over a mile and a furlong on Dubai World Cup night.
She has already shown her liking for the UAE venue in two Group 2 fillies’ and mares’ contests, finishing second to Very Special in the Cape Verdi over a mile, before capturing the Balanchine over Saturday’s trip by a neck from Via Firenze.
Now Channon (pictured) is looking forward to taking on the colts at Group 1 level with Oisin Murphy again in the saddle.
Following her latest success, he said: “It’s extra special to be able to do it with a filly who we’ve been with from the very start.”
Opal Tiara is a best-priced 33-1 shot, with Zarak, Ribchester and Mutakayyef the leading market fancies.
