FELIPE Massa could not have been happier with his start to the new Formula 1 season after scoring eight points for Grove-based Williams in the Australian Grand Prix.
The Brazilian finished sixth at Albert Park, Melbourne and cut a delighted figure.
The 35-year-old said: “The result was just great.
“I was so happy with the whole race.
“The way I was managing the tyres, the consistency, the work from the whole team, the pitstop – everything worked really well.
“Not bad for an old boy!”
Teammate Lance Stroll made an impressive start on his debut, moving up to 14th, but was forced to avoid a collision which caused a flat spot on his tyres.
He had to pit again and was as high as 13th, but was forced to retire with a front left brake issue.
The 18-year-old said: “It was my first race, and first weekend, so there are a few positives to take out of it.”
