ABINGDON RC women’s section enjoyed success at the Ironbridge Regatta.

Bev Ashton won the Masters B single as well as the IM2 doubles with Elly Kilsby from Wallingford RC.

These two then combined with Liz Newman (Monmouth RC) and Abingdon RC’s Corrinna Demmar, Nicky Simpson, Rachel Horner, Sarah Leeming, Sharon Webber and cox, Helen Owen to win the Masters C eights.

Abingdon’s Cheryl Hewlett and Katherine Ostrich won their novice event in a double scull. And joining the pre-qualified men’s coxed four will be the double scull of Pete King and Dan Harvey and the women’s quad of Louise Hart, Mary Wilson, Lou Bowyer and, from Agecroft RC, Ellie Lewis.

The four (Rob Hines, Jonny Mentor, Rob Mason, James Wright and cox, Poul Alexander), racing in the Britannia Challenge Cup face a tough first-round test against Thames RC.
