GROVE-BASED Williams are hoping for an improved qualifying performance when Formula 1 heads to Budapest for the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend.

Drivers Felipe Massa and Lance Stroll have not started from a better grid placing than the eighth row since Azerbaijan.

That resulted in only four points being scored in Austria and Silverstone, leaving Williams fifth and 54 points behind Force India in the constructor standings.

Meanwhile, Luca Ghiotto will make his Formula 1 debut for the team at the young driver test in Hungary on August 1-2.

The 22 year-old Italian will split duties with Massa.

Ghiotto, who is fifth in this year’s FIA Formula 2 Championship with three podium finishes, is a five-time race-winner in the GP3 Series.

He said: “A big thanks to Williams for this opportunity.

“I think the first F1 test for any driver is a special moment, and to do it with such an historic team is even better so I’m really excited.”
