SERGEY Sirotkin left Spain in good spirits after the final Formula 1 test proved to be a fact-finding mission.
The Russian completed 105 laps during Friday’s morning session for the Grove-based Williams team at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Lance Stroll’s time behind the wheel was cut short due to a failure in the fuel system.
Although the team know there is still work to do ahead of the first race in Melbourne, Australia, on March 25, they left the circuit feeling encouraged.
Sirotkin said: “Friday was definitely the best day.
“There are still some issues, obviously.
“It’s not all great.
“There are many little things we need to analyse and try to learn from to get sorted for Australia.
“But at least we found out what things are right and what things are not, which gave us a direction to work in.
“Now we will do some homework and see where we will be in Australia.”
