KIRSTY Miller, Oxfordshire’s sportswoman of the year for 2017, began the new season with a commanding display at the English Open Taekwon-Do Championships in Guildford.

Leading the entries from Didcot TKD, Miller took gold in sparring and pattern categories, cementing her position as the leading 4th Dan competitor.

Also winning gold medals for Didcot were England captain Ricky De Winton and Lucas Betteridge, while there were silvers for Alison Fisher , Lisamarie Betteridge, Harrison Moore, and Sienna Carbonari.

Seren Fullbrook took bronze, along with Connor Fisher, and debutants Brooke Claridge and Otto Spencer.

Yasmin Betteridge and Harvey Claridge narrowly missed the medal places with losses in their quarter final matches.

The team are now starting preparations for the next championships in Cardiff in May.
