MOTORSPORT: Williams bid to put another disappointing day behind them after failing to score points in the Bahrain Grand Prix.

After a frustrating opening round to the Formula 1 season in Australia, the Grove-based team had hoped for confidence-boosting results in the second race.

But Lance Stroll and Sergey Sirotkin finished 16th and 17th respectively at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Stroll qualified 20th and moved up to 15th after a frenetic opening lap, but was forced to pit after damaging his front wing.

He is hoping for better in the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend.

Stroll said: “I still believe we did the maximum we could have done.

“I hope we can be better in China, but behind the scenes there is a lot of work to be done.”
